Book Drunkard

“I am simply a 'book drunkard.' Books have the same irresistible temptation for me that liquor has for its devotee. I cannot withstand them.” L.M. Montgomery

Good at Games by Jill Mansell, review

How does one become accidentally engaged? That’s what Suzy Curtis thinks when she suddenly finds herself very publicly engaged to handsome Harry Fitzallan, local town hero. Harry wants famous rock star Jaz to be his best man-only he’s Suzy’s ex-husband and a recovering alcoholic. Suzy’s half sister Lucille loves getting to know the family she’d never met, but she can’t help her attraction to Jaz, nor can Suzy quash her entirely inappropriate feelings for Leo, Harry’s engaged brother!
With all these wild players at the table, mayhem is bound to ensue. As each new piece comes into play, everyone has more to lose, and the only way to win is if you’re good at the games of love…

Jill Mansell’s books are always a romping good time and GOOD AT GAMES is no exception.  She’s the ultimate Brit Chick Lit author in my opinion – her characters always have flaws, and her books are always hilarious, light, and easy reads that will carry you away from your mundane day and drop you off in the middle of someone else’s life.

In this particular book, we are treated to a twisty turny tale with multiple romances – some of which I saw coming and some which I didn’t!  The cast of characters consist of real estate agents, rock stars, nerds, dog walkers, and gold diggers.. just to name a few.  Nothing ever goes as planned in Mansell’s world, that’s for sure.

With  a quirky cast of characters who are real enough to be your neighbours, friends, or even you, I give GOOD AT GAMES 4 stars ****.

*I received an e-copy of this book from Sourcebooks via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review*
