Book Drunkard

“I am simply a 'book drunkard.' Books have the same irresistible temptation for me that liquor has for its devotee. I cannot withstand them.” L.M. Montgomery

Love Amid the Ashes by Mesu Andrews

I’ve always been fascinated with the Biblical story of Job.  What faith he must have had to endure all the hardships in his life.  When I was offered a copy of Love Amid the Ashes by Mesu Andrews to read and review, I jumped at the chance.

From what I remember of the Bible story, Job’s wife wasn’t mentioned that often.  In this book, however, she is a prevalent character together with Job and their passion for each other brings so much to their tale of tragedy and love.  The book was engaging from the beginning and I was engrossed in not only their journey together, but the journey the author allowed me to take with them.  I could feel their despair and happiness and love in myself while living this well researched story.  It was easy to picture myself there with them as Mesu does a beautiful job describing the surroundings.

I was already a  huge fan of Biblical fiction before reading Love Amid the Ashes, but this book cemented it all over again for me.  If you’ve never read this genre in the past, I suggest trying this book.  I think you’ll enjoy it so much.
