The latest offering by author pair Gina Buonaguro and Janice Kirk is a sweet little book called Falling For Rain. Several years ago, I completely fell in love with The Sidewalk Artist which was, in fact, one of the first books I ever reviewed on my blog. Unless the European setting in that book, Falling For Rain is set entirely in Canada. As a Canadian, I always love books that include places I have actually heard of – even if I haven’t necessarily visited them – yet!
Rain is the ‘lead’ male character in the book and when Emily comes back to her parent’s farm – from the big city – she is determined to sell the place and move on. So many feelings from the past about her father, her mother’s death and of course, her love for Rain, come rushing back but she’s determined to keep them stifled and go back to her old, though seemingly unhappy, life.
I just love this writing duo of Gina Buonaguro and Janice Kirk. They are able to weave beautiful and sad love stories that can be completely unpredictable at times. The characters they create are so real that they could be my neighbours and I feel like I know them well by the end of the book. With this book, as with the last two I’ve read by the pair, keep me wondering what the characters might be doing now had the story continued. I love books like that.
Many thanks to Janice and Gina for sending me a copy to review. And they would also love to give away a copy of Falling to Rain to one reader of my blog! If you live in Canada or the US, leave a comment on this post with your email address to be entered. As always, there are ways to get extra entries and here they are: Tweet, Facebook or blog this review for a total of 3 extra entries (1 each), for 4 extra entries, read and comment on my review of The Sidewalk Artist and/or Ciao Bella. (2 entries each and please note that the giveaway for Ciao Bella is now over). Contest ends on May 5. Good luck!
