The Founding by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles – Review

The Founding is the first book in what is promising to be an exciting series by author Cynthia Harrod-Eagles, The Morland Dynasty.  The series is currently the “longest-running historical family saga ever” according to the author’s website.  As of now, there are 32 books in the series.

While the Morlands are a fictitious family, there are several historical figures woven into the story which is set during the War of the Roses.  An interesting time in history on its own, Harrod-Eagles brings the unique family into the mix and it almost feels as if they belong in the history books themselves.  The blending of real and fiction is done in such a way so it doesn’t feel forced or unbelievable.  One thing I really appreciated in reading this book is the included family tree – always helpful when trying to keep a large family straight.

Excellent book that I’m certain all history lovers will enjoy.

Thanks to Danielle from Sourcebooks for sending me this book for review.
