Book Drunkard

“I am simply a 'book drunkard.' Books have the same irresistible temptation for me that liquor has for its devotee. I cannot withstand them.” L.M. Montgomery

  1. I did a 20 pointer this week! I read and reviewed a book: 1984 by George Orwell.

    Here’s the link: http://bookshelfmonstrosity.blogspot.com/2009/11/review-1984-by-george-orwell.html

  2. I read and reviewed a book: How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff
20 points! That is probably my easiest one to finish. Next up: I’m working on a Bronte book, and surprisingly, enjoying it, but I expect to slowly work at this for the month. Maybe a vampire book.

  3. I am so very sorry about the migraines. That you were able to read any books is amazing!

  4. This week I managed to get thirty points:

    Vampire Breath by R.L. Stine (5 pts–vampires)
The Man Who Loved Books Too Much by Allison Hoover Bartlett (10 pts–Canadian author)
Fool by Christopher Moore (15 pts–retelling of Shakespeare’s King Lear)

While not the best book I’ve ever read, Fool was really funny and engaging, and I’m excited to read more by, uh, Moore. Ahem.

  5. No points yet- I read the book the Golden Tulip this week, but I still have to review it before I get the points. Sometime later this week that will get done tho.

  6. I get the feeling I’m going to get lots of points early on and slack off near the end, since most books I’ve read this week I can fit into this challenge. But fingers crossed I can keep this up…

A book about Vampires – I read Fade Out by Rachel Caine
A book by author born Nov-Feb – I read Last Scene Alive by Charlaine Harris (she’s born in November)
A book with a wintery theme – I read A Fool & his Honey by Charlaine Harris (lots of snow in that one!)
Read a book & write a review – Third Girl by Agatha Christie

    Whew! So 60pts so far.

  7. I got no points for my first week but the second week looks promising.

  8. Alright, I wrote my review of The Golden Tulip – here’s the link http://themaidenscourt.blogspot.com/2009/11/book-review-golden-tulip-by-rosalind.html. So that brings me to 20 points!

  9. Read a book by Georgette Heyer (Arabella)(11/6 10 pts)
    about a queen or king(The Queen’s Mistake)(11/12 5 pts)
