Book Drunkard

“I am simply a 'book drunkard.' Books have the same irresistible temptation for me that liquor has for its devotee. I cannot withstand them.” L.M. Montgomery

Virginie Says…

I’m reading one of the best books right now!  It’s called Blonde Baby and it was written by Wilson Collison in 1931.  He wrote many books that were then turned into screenplays, and this particular book was made into the film ‘Three Wise Girls’ starring Jean Harlow.  The book is old and falling apart, but seriously, if you can find a copy, I highly recommend it.

“You know, Mom, I’m a great believer in Fate.  That’s why I don’t worry much.  After all, we only matter to ourselves.  If we can have faith in things, that’s the big idea.  I remember when Pop used to work in the garden in the back yard just before he died.  He used to say, “See all these plants, Cassandra?  They’re fighting every day to live, and some day they’ll die, but they’ve fought.  They’re good soldiers.  We have to be good soldiers.”  Page 32.

And, just because I love this book so much, here’s another teaser.

“I’m not afraid of him.  I like him.  I like him very much.  But what is his purpose?  He told me he didn’t like blondes and now he’s asked me out to dinner.  I heard he was in love with his wife, and now he’s asked me out to dinner.  Maybe he was drunk.”  Page 73

  2. That second teaser had me saying that the guy is such a player. I wonder why he asked her out to dinner and I wonder how his wife feels?
